Our temples

Through centuries of intermarriage and assimilation, the community held on to the Hindu faith of its forefathers and built its own temples in the village and beyond. Six of them are on the walk.

Sri Poyatha Vinayagar Moorthy
Sri Muthu Mariamman
Sri Kailasanathar
Sri Anggalaman
Sri Ayyanar
Sri Dharmaraja
Sri Poyatha Vinayagar Moorthy 01 / 06
Built 1781 · Jalan Tukang Emas

One of the oldest temples in Malaysia, built by Thaivanayagam Chitty on land the Dutch granted to the community. Its main deity is Vinayagar, remover of obstacles and Lord of wisdom. For the last 20 years it has been managed by the Malacca Nagarathar Nattukkottai Chettiar under an agreement with the community.
